Shelter for the Homeless in Oxford

Churches in Oxford have now joined forces to offer emergency night shelter accommodation for the homeless in Oxford this winter. It is being run over seven nights a week, from January 2018 through to March.  A good night’s sleep and breakfast for up to ten guests is offered each night, during the cold months from January to March 31st. Seven churches take it in turns each week to open their doors at 10.00 pm. Wesley Mem's turn is Sunday nights in this pilot project. Other churhces have offered support in temrs of volunteers and gifts.

The cost for the first year, including set up, is estimated at £30,000. That’s approximately £30 a night for one bed. email This email address is being protected from spambots. No more training sessions for volunteers are planned for this year, as we are almost half way through the project.

The take-up of beds has been very good, and few problems have arisen so far.

Wesley Mem hosts guests on Sunday nights. Many thanks to the churches who have supported the project!
